Somehow, I always knew I would be a creative entrepreneur— I just didn’t know what my journey would look like. Growing up in Portugal, I was always encouraged to study science or math, but the arts were my chosen path.
When I was just 16, I set out on my own and began my studies in business management, English, and Portuguese. A multipassionate creative, I applied to culinary and cookery production— a course that Michelin-star chefs take before they open their restaurants! I learned to manage teams, create business plans, and made connections in the hotel and hospitality industry that ultimately led to working for a fancy hotel restaurant. It should have been my dream job, but deep down, I craved something different.
When the hotel’s wedding planner resigned during wedding season, it was my moment to step up. Over a span of two years, I planned and coordinated 150+ weddings. When it came time to decide if I would continue working for the hotel, I once again went my own way and started Unique Dream Wedding in 2017. I gathered all my savings, moved to Lisbon, and opened my company. Over the past 7 years, I’ve planned hundreds more unique weddings and worked with couples from all over the world.
As a wedding planner, I invoice upwards of a million dollars per year. I started my business as an ordinary person with a dream— I didn’t work for luxury brands or know anyone. I started my business from the ground up.
